June Newsletter
What has been happening?
Our new logo was created by a student as part of her Graphic Design (her name is Muniza and she is from Pakistan).
Winter Chills?
Winter is a time for travelling and a few of our members are off enjoying warmer climes. We miss them but we are really enjoying the posts on Facebook that show their smiling faces and amazing destinations! We continue to enjoy Tuesday’s as casual painting days and its always a great opportunity to catch up with friends. The wood fire is keeping us toasty and warm and as always wish to thank our generous hosts Justin & Jean Taylor at the Murray River Motel for providing the room free of charge!
Our new initiative of holding an informal “1st Tuesday” workshop is proving popular and Lorri is happy to take on ideas for further workshops. So have a think about what your would like to try out and let her know.
We are currently investigating options for an additional space to get together for those who cannot come on Tuesday mornings. This is NOT a replacement for what we are already doing but will be in addition to our current Tuesdays. If anyone has some ideas about an affordable (or free) venue, please give Lorri a call 0467 879 261.
Print Making At The Gallery
Some of us joined in “The Biggest Print project” run in conjunction with the Print and Drawing Awards in April/May. Visiting artist, Judy Holding and local artist, Kerryn Finch showed us some great techniques and we also had a lot of fun. Our results (along with many others) can be seen on the outside wall of the gallery as you approach from the railway line.

Paint like Paul Klee
This was our 1st Tuesday in June (actually was held today, on the 2nd Tuesday as Lorri was ill)
We had a lot of fun experimenting with oil pastels which were painted over with acrylic paint, and then scratched back to reveal a drawing or to create one.
Coming up…..

- Pencil, tracing or transfer paper (there will be some supplied if you don’t have any)
- Opaque paint medium of your choice: ONE colour, plus white and/or black

- Painting surface of your choice

Paint Pouring (in house)
with Lorri Lambert and Helen Porteus

This was a fun and very expressive way to share our creativity.
Lorri and Helen shared their skills and techniques including recipes to take home and experiment with. Members were able to create between 2 and 4 small pieces each learning about basic pours, the swipe and a dirty pour.
Different mediums were trialled including PVA & water, Floetrol and paint plus some combinations of the above. Silicone oil was added to some colours and there was much excitement as “cells” began to appear.
For a .pdf copy of the notes please email Lorri.

Upcoming Exhibition “Earth Connections”
Every two years we have our exhibition at the access gallery all financial members are able to exhibit. The title was decided at the annual meeting and at this stage Ian Tully has been in touch with me about the timing of our exhibition, it will be held in February 2017, a bit later than planned originally but will at this stage run with an exhibition promoting local works in the gallery collection. Please work towards this event so we can showcase our work. I am still looking for a piece of work to head our invitations and the advertising that the gallery does, I need this by mid October. Contact Judy (0448918771) if you have something for consideration.

Swan Hill Show Success
Thank you to those who came down to assist at the show, it was great to find that the show society had enough volunteers to have stewards there to sort it all out. Our support of the Art section has seen an increase in entries in the show.
