WORKSHOPS

August: Ross Paterson Pastels

A very successful workshop was held at Tooleybuc and some beautiful work created!

FIRST TUESDAYS: September – Pastels

Members brought along their artwork from the Ross Paterson workshop and we shared pastels, techniques and ideas.  The workshop was held at Neighbourhood house in the art room adjacent to the Men’s Shed.  The space does not have much natural light and it was very dusty due to the woodwork next door and the ceramics.

FIRST TUESDAYS: October – Barbed Wire

Joy Jones led a fascinating workshop using barbed wire as the model.  Members learned how to paint this Aussie icon using watercolour and gouache.  For those who missed out Joy is willing to repeat the lesson on a future date.  We were joined by some members from the Moulamein art group and its always great to meet & share ideas.  Big thanks to Joy for sharing her knowledge.

July ~ September what we have been up to!

Sorry I have been a bit slow posting .. got a bit sidetracked with Facebook, setting up my art therapy business and of course painting!

Below is a bit of a selection of images from workshops we have held over the past few months.  First Tuesday of the Month in July we did monochrome work, followed by collage in August and Pastels in September.

The pastels were inspired by the Ross Paterson workshop held a week earlier.  Members brought along their work and we shared ideas and techniques.

The annual General meeting was held Tuesday 18th September.

President: Judy Brawn  Secretary: Lorri Lambert  Treasurer: Sue McGrath

Membership is still $25 per year.

Paint like Paul Klee

This was held our  planned workshop for the 1st Tuesday in June (actually was held on the 2nd Tuesday as Lorri was ill)

We had a lot of fun experimenting with oil pastels which were painted over with acrylic paint, and then scratched back to reveal a drawing or to create one.  Below are some of the works by our group!

Workshops for 2018

Paint Pouring (in house)
with Lorri Lambert and Helen Porteus

2018 pour5

This was a fun and very expressive way to share our creativity.

Lorri and Helen shared their skills and techniques including recipes to take home and experiment with.  Members were able to create between 2 and 4 small pieces each learning about basic pours, the swipe and a dirty pour.

Different mediums were trialled including PVA & water, Floetrol and paint plus some combinations of the above.  Silicone oil was added to some colours and there was much excitement as “cells” began to appear.

For a .pdf copy of the notes please email Lorri.
