First Wednesday Workshops!
The First Wednesday each month will be an in-house workshop facilitated by one of our members. These will be held at the Woorinen South Community Hall. The Committee have the first couple organised but would love input into subjects and mediums members would like to try or re-visit.

March: Collage 2D and 3D
Wednesday 3rd from 10am Cost: $5
Explore the difference between collage and decoupage, bring along all kinds of paper, fabrics, other embellishments, scissors, glue and something to stick it on! Bring something 3D for an extra challenge like this cute little ceramic duck covered in rice paper. (Rice paper is quite thin and can be purchased locally from Hillbilly Scrappin’ )

Decoupage or Collage? Either one the duck is cute!

April: Paverpol
Wednesday 7th and 14th. Starts 10am
This is a two day workshop and those who have done this previously can help newbies to get started. Costs and a list of materials you need to bring will be provided to those who are interested. Please let Judy or Lorri if you wish to attend.

COVID Safe Painting Days

Mallee Artists will resume regular painting days from the first week in February.

Tuesdays @ the Murray River Motel, Swan Hill from 9.30am

Annual General Meeting

The AGM will be held at the Woorinen South Community Centre all on Wednesday 10th February, 2021 at 10am.

All members past and present are welcome to attend ad to stay and paint or draw for the day.

BYO snacks and drinks to make this a COVID safe meeting.

Painting days resume the first week of February. restrictions apply @ the motel on Tuesdays.

Wednesdays at the Woorinen South Community Centre Hall 9.30am to 1.30pm. Gold Coin Donation.

River Days

Members met in a social distancing friendly get together by the Murray River in Swan Hill. Tuesdays by the river will continue, weather permitting until the group gets back together indoors.

Meanwhile here in USA where I am still waiting for flights and money from Qantas…. It is summer, hot and humid!

Lorri’s 30 day Art Challenge

I joined a facebook group and have made something for each theme. SOme took a long time others just a few minutes. This has been part of my morning routine while I am here in iso with my daughter and her family in Ohio, USA.

The challenge is not about doing every day or even in order, its about stimulating the imagination whilst we are in isolation. The next 30 days have been posted and I am still deciding if I want to keep going. Hope you get some smiles from this. March 4: Clay heads and objects with Di Giddings.

You will need a base for your sculpted head. A nice fat piece of dowell screwed into a rectangular or square base works well. The one in the images is approx 16cm high and on a base of approx 15cm x 20cm. You can make it smaller. Once the head is dry you can remove it & reuse your stand.

Alternately you could bring a piece of board and make a mask or something similar.

Paul’s workshops are fun and instructive. Alternative uses for watercolours are explored in an explosion of colour!With Paul’s workshop you can break from the traditions of painting and develop an expressive skill set that will help develop more visual movement in your wet medium painting. Paul’s aim in painting is to marry strong compositional methods with expressive qualities. He also develops rich textural elements by re-working finished painting with markers, pens and pencils.

Paul demonstrates his painting methods in a series of simple steps that participants can easily follow along. Participants can also take home an information sheet that outlines these steps for future reference as well. Gain some new tips and tricks that will help your own artistic journey in a relaxed and creative environment. Mothers Day Fundraiser

This will be a “pop up shop” exhibition with sales. It will be held at the Community Tree, Campbell Street Swan Hill on Friday 8th May 10-4 & Sat 9th May 9-1. If you are submitting works then you must also agree to go on the roster to man the stall for at least 2 hours. It is suggested that paintings are framed or on canvas with fixtures for hanging. Smaller unframed works are acceptable if they have a mount and are wrapped in cellophane. Other quality crafted items are also acceptable for this exhibition. eg: handpainted cards, ceramics etc.

10% of all works sold will be paid to the local Cancer support group. Payment for works sold, is made at the conclusion of the exhibition, when all works have been paid for. We will also be having a raffle with all proceeds going to the local cancer support group. Donations of mother friendly items accepted.

2020 Workshops (Feb—June)

Harmony Day Project: Gratefulness Tree. Members will decorate leaves with messages to add to the community tree. Tuesday 4 Feb @ Murray River Motel.

Feb 5: Tantalising textures with Lorri Lambert. Impasto with acrylics, impasto medium and or modelling paste and gesso. Members Free, visitors $20

June 3: Glass Art with Cathy Gibson. #This will be held in Moulamein. $70 per person (maximum of 8 ppl)

Welcome to 2020

MASH will resume weekly painting/creating days in January

Tuesday 14th at the Murray River Motel, Swan Hill

Wednesday 15th January at the Woorinen South Community Hall.

Each day is from 9.30am until around 1.30pm. Come for some or all of the time, come for one or two days, the choice is yours!

If you are interested in helping organise workshops for 2020 please let Lorri know and she will give you an invitation to attend our first planning meeting on Tues 14th Jan.

Memberships are now due so if you have not yet paid please catch up with Lorri .. she has a list and is checking it twice!
