2019 Workshops Summary

This year we have a wonderful variety of workshops including Water effects with Jon Lam, Paverpol sculptures with Helen & Judy, Watercolour with Ross Paterson and Clay sculpted heads with Di.  Combined with our First Tuesdays it has been a very eventful year!

AGM

Thanks to everyone who attended our AGM this week.  Judy Brawn and Lorri Lambert have been re-elected to President & Secretary.  The position of Treasurer is still open.

Biddy Pierce will be assisting Lorri with media and Maxine Harrop will be coordinating morning tea.

Exciting news!

Due to growth in numbers we will have 2 days of art available!

Tuesdays 9.30am -1.30pm at the Murray River Motel, Campbell St Swan Hill.
(Gold coin donation) AND Wednesdays 9.00am – 1.00pm at Woorinen South Community Hall, starting 2nd October. ($5 per week)

Come to one or come to both!  Art materials can be provided for beginners to come & try!
Cuppa and bikkies included.
Melbourne Cup

Bring something to share for Cup Day morning Tea & don’t forget your hat!

Christmas Celebration

Lunch will be on Tuesday … December at Java Spice.  Bookings to Norma or Lorri.

Swan Hill Show

Schedule is now out!  We support the show committee each year with a donation towards prizes in the art section.  We also help hang artworks and we will be asking for helpers in show week – please help if you can, dates to be advised.

MONTHLY MEMBER WORKSHOPS

FIRST TUESDAY WORKSHOPS ARE NOW FIRST WEDNESDAYS @ WOORINEN SOUTH COMMUNITY HALL!

Wednesday October 2nd – Plein Air (painting outside) Hints and tips for making the most of catching light, making quick sketches and more!

Wednesday November 6th @ Woorinen South Community Hall from 9am.  Workshop starts @ 10am

Upcoming Projects

Business cards: these will be given to members on request to hand out as needed.

Promotional Brochure: Lorri has completed.  This will be placed at Information Centre, The Regional Art Gallery and Library.  Please ask for a bundle to distribute to other suitable locations such as Post Offices/stores in outlying towns.

Red Cross Fundraiser October: MASH will have a stall for this event.  Small artworks would be the most suitable plus any crafty items you make.   Please contact Lorri or Jenny to find out more.

Food & Wine Show March 2020: We will be having a stall in conjunction with the Artisan market.  Details to come.

Mothers Day Fundraiser April 2020: We will be holding an exhibition with art for sale and a % of proceeds to local cancer support group.  More details early next year.

Cezanne Style Still Life
Marian Caccianiga will be holding an acrylic workshop during our regular Tuesday Art Group, you can come along and participate or just do your usual thing. For those interested in participating and trying something different the workshop will be held over two days Tuesday the 4th and Tuesday the 11th of February. Marian will cater for all levels of experience from beginners to seasoned artists, she will show us how to use lots of glazing with our acrylics. You will need to bring a canvas no smaller than 30cm X 40cm (rectangle or square) prepared with a coat of Gesso or white paint. Bring your own acrylic paints and brushes or you can use those supplied. If you have an interesting piece of pottery etc suitable for still life bring it along also. Cost per day for members is $10 if you have your own paints and brushes or $20 if you use paints and brushes supplied, so come and give it a go. Non Members $5 extra per day. TO MARKET….

Swan Hill Region Produce and Design Market is held as part of the Swan Hill Wine and food Festival. We have participated in this Sunrise Rotary Market regularly, lots of people are expected to be visiting Swan Hill on the Labour Day Weekend in March. As always it is held in the car park between the Gallery and Spoons. Mark the date Sunday March 9th in your diary, we will set up from 8am with the market starting at 9am and finishing at 1pm.

MURAL
In 2012 we applied to the Swan Hill Rural City Council for funding to do a Mural of the old Swan Hill Wharf, at our second attempt in 2013 we were successful. The large board that we will be working on is at Joan Holmes Studio at Tooleybuc and we will be working on it during Feb/March anyone from the group who would like to be involved would be most welcome. Anglican Art Show Get painting, May will come around quickly!!! This annual show will be on the first weekend in June. Please support this local show I will put more information in the April newsletter.

2014 Exhibition “ART from the hART”
Our bi-annual Exhibition will be held in September, make sure you have some work on the go for this occasion. There is still time to offer a suggestion for the name of our Exhibition or if you have any other suggestions contact Judy 0448918771.

Events coming up during February and March are:
February: Marian Caccianiga will hold a two day acrylic workshop maximum of 10 people per day. Bring your own canvas. (30X40) Venue: Murray River Motel Time: Tuesday 4th Feb 10am – 3pm, Tuesday 11th Feb 10am – 3pm Cost: With own paints and brushes Members $10 per day Non Members $15 per day. Opportunities: Owl Little Studio If you have any work at the studio consider changing it over. If any one else has something to put in just pop down to the studio.
